I’ve cast the thunderbolts from heaven
And watched them fizzle away to nothing
Stroked my beard and wondered why
But no secret stones rolled back the riddles
I’ve churned the oceans in my mind
And saw the foam slip away unnoticed
And the waves never returned home
To shores I missed making love to you on
I sneaked across the high mountains
Like a storm cloud fading on the other side
Raindrops flowing like silent tears
Of a widow awaiting a return that will not come
Then stopping suddenly I heard a voice
That called me from the stillness there
Between the cracks and crevices I had torn
Deep into my seeking soul without remorse
